World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage for every time it is upgraded.
Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
The player can get up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear, even in the event that they don't know how much it can be improved upon the reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be costly and there is a substantial chance that the item could be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failure to upgrade can cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chances of failure, and a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.
You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes more quickly.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs You will need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts a particular set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
item upgrading of Glyphs Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance, a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, but you should also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level requires a different number of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is advanced in level.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player improves a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This can be a downside in that the item could be more expensive even if you do not need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can use up many resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like a dolphin). This item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is highly useful in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of a non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item it is given an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the more you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained like chances to be crit attack damage, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades at a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For instance they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Players will still have to bring every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs mentioned above.
